DANCE SIX-0, the resident dance company for men and women over 60 years of age at Wiltshire Creative, present an exciting evening of dance performance. A celebratory and entertaining event that will challenge perceptions about age, demonstrating we're never too old to dance!

The showcase will feature the brilliance of older dancers in southwest and a range of artistic material. DANCE SIX-0 will share work from their repertoire as well as newly created material. The company have been performing at elders dance platforms across the country this Spring/Summer, including at Elixir Festival at the prestigious Sadler's Well's. DANCE SIX-0 will be sharing two contrasting works that showcase the breadth of personalities, bodies and personal histories that older dancers bring to the stage:

• HEAD IN MY BAG, choreographed by Lizz Aggiss

See this bag? Well… this old bag holds many secrets. With a spit of techno, punk and rock 'n roll, 'Head In My Bag' dumps age centre stage and kicks preconceptions into the long grass.

HEAD IN MY BAG, pushes the boundaries of what is expected of older peoples dance in terms of its content, style and subject matter. This work, choreographed by Avant Garde choreographer, Liz Aggiss, blends performance art, choreography and dialogue to make an irreverent piece that reflects what may be lurking under the surface of our dancer's personas. It rips stereotypes apart and appeals to the rebellious side in both our dancers and audiences.

• DANCE ME, choreographed by Roz Conlon in collaboration with the dancers

DANCE ME showcases the dancers and the personal histories inherent in older bodies. It's a dance about finding strength from others while maintaining the strength in knowledge of the self and personal history. Each performance is unique as company members feel the work allows them to explore a different way of moving each time they perform it. Performances are all the more authentic because people are expressing their identities and lived experiences through dance.

Joining the company will be invited elders companies from across the region. We may even have an extra special guest announced closer to the time.

"Loved the energy and humour… made me smile and laugh out loud. Great contrasts too with poignant moments and stillness. Made me want to jump out of my seat and join them! Genius, funny and irreverent!" – Audience member

"A fantastic example of how to push the boundaries of what is expected of older peoples dance in terms of its content, style and subject matter" - Pavilion Dance South West Producer on Head In My Bag
